  • Solana ETFs are also negative for the month, at a loss of $24.8 million after five straight days of outflows

“Uptober” isn’t living up to its name for crypto ETFs.

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs took in $21.1 million on Friday, according to Decrypt’s ETF tracker. That’s a modest bounce after back-to-back outflows of $484.9 million on Wednesday and $244.1 million on Thursday. Even so, the funds are down a net $386.3 million through the first seven trading days of October.

Bitcoin and other crypto asset ETFs allow investors to gain exposure to digital currencies without using crypto exchanges or wallets. These funds track the price of the asset and trade like stocks on a brokerage app. They’ve been very successful since their launch, and flows in and out of the funds have become a reliable measure of current market sentiment.

The month started strong, with $292.6 million in inflows across Oct. 1 and 2. A $118.8 million inflow on Oct. 6 couldn’t offset the selling that followed, and Wednesday’s exit was the funds’ worst day since June.

That’s a sharp reversal from September. After the Senate’s failed cloture vote on the Clarity Act triggered heavy outflows in mid-September, Bitcoin ETFs reeled off a nine-session inflow streak worth roughly $3 billion. That run pushed 2026’s year-to-date flows back into positive territory.

Ethereum ETFs have fared worse. The funds shed $56.1 million on Friday, extending their outflow streak to nine straight trading days.

They’ve lost $635 million so far in October and nearly $700 million over the full streak, with the heaviest single-day exit, $201.9 million, coming on Oct. 6. Cumulative net inflows since launch stand at $13.2 billion, and total net assets are $14.5 billion.

Solana ETFs are also in the red for October, though on a much smaller scale. The funds lost $3.8 million on Friday, their fifth straight day of outflows, bringing October’s net total to a loss of $24.8 million. Their only inflow this month was $1.3 million on Oct. 2. Cumulative net inflows stand at $137.9 million.

For Bitcoin ETFs, cumulative net inflows since launch total $57.6 billion, and the funds hold $100.6 billion in total net assets, according to Decrypt’s tracker.
