After consistent success, New South Wales couple Shay and Dean came out on top, with the pair managing to get three perfect scores of ten from the judges for their renovated living room in the final challenge apartment.

The married couple's efforts resulted in them being rewarded with a Suzuki Vitara car, as well as the power to determine the auction order.

Shay and Dean decided to take risks with their colour scheme, opting for jet black walls juxtaposed with a white one featuring a wide screen television.

Delivering the judges' feedback, host Scott Cam told the pair that judge Darren Palmer was quite impressed with the couple's adventurous palette for the room.

'Darren was really impressed with the choice of black on the walls either side of the TV,' he said.

Stepping into the room, Darren told fellow judges Neale Whitaker and Shaynna Blaze: 'It gives this room real visual texture'.

Neale was equally as impressed, casting his eye over the smaller details in particular including the abstract artwork on the walls and the arrangements of lounges and cushions.

'Somebody's put this room together that has a very sophisticated eye and a very good sense of colour,' the celebrity judge said.

Scott also mentioned to the contestants that this was 'the best living room that Neale has seen yet on The Block'.

The couple earned scores of 10 from each of the three judges, giving them a perfect final score of 30.

Dining room: Andrew and Whitney were in charge of the dining room which caught the judges' eye too

They were followed by couple Andrew and Whitney who were in charge of the dining room.

After having seen Shay and Dean's living room, the judges were thrilled to see some consistency when they stepped into Andrew and Whitney's designated area for renovations.

'It is absolutely the dining room that goes with that living room. It's kind of seamless isn't it?' Neale said.

Darren and Shaynna both gave the couple scores of 10, while Neale's 9.5 gave them a final results of 29.5 out of 30.

In third place were Gold Coast mothers Suzi Taylor and Vonni Cosier.

The brunettes were in charge of the main bedroom, and after having had practice renovating this room during the series, they unsurprisingly excelled impeccably.
